About the role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and are followed up correctly to minimise and manage risk and attend investigations where required, ensuring that the Occupational Health and Safety Act is always complied with.
- Review the five (5) year Asset Strategy and the rolling site maintenance plan as planning inputs are conducted.
- Prepare a rolling plan including all work orders from routine maintenance and for shut down maintenance work. Issue a weekly rolling plan to the scheduler.
- Ensure that all work packs (labour, parts, tasks, costs, etc.) are uploaded and maintained in CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) for system integrity. Create and maintain work orders and requisitions (materials and services) in the CMMS. Confirm that parts and labour are available prior to releasing work orders to qualify job as “planned.” Develop and maintain PM’s (Preventative Maintenance schedules).
- Order parts/services, obtain quotes, create specifications as required to ensure quality assurance, and allow for future warranty considerations. Consult with Supply to expedite external parts and contractor labour suppliers, where necessary.
- Update stock levels when necessary; create CIA’s (catalogue inventory application) as required, to avoid stock-outs and ensure supply of parts and rotables as required
- Manage the backlog and enter work orders into the rolling 12-week plan.
- Responsible for rigorous cost management including specifically the optimised maintenance planning, adherence to Supply policy, and follow-up on warranty claims to ensure all financial information is captured. Assist in preparing the maintenance budget annually.
- Comply with all reasonable and lawful instructions that are consistent with your contract of employment.
- Ensuring that all routine maintenance activities, and those corrective maintenance activities able to be scheduled later (non-breakdown), are loaded into a maintenance plan. Understand the balance of planned work and unplanned work is an essential aspect of maintenance planning, and one that needs close attention to achieve both effective and efficient use of resources.
- Maintenance cost management is fundamental to all aspects of maintenance. The role of Maintenance Planner must ensure that costs are minimised, particularly when establishing parts inventories, sourcing materials and equipment, and making optimum use of external services. This requires close attention to detailed co-ordination and communication to make this successful.
About You
- Minimum C Class Manual Drives Licence
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate (as relevant) or Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years in the mining or heavy industry with sound working knowledge of Maintenance Planning and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
